Islam Democraten (ID) is a local Dutch political party. ID is founded on Islamic principles, i.e. justice, equality and solidarity. In spite of being a local political party ID does have the aspiration to extend its playing field to other Dutch cities with a large Muslim community.

ID started in 2005 in the city of the Hague. Founded as a bottom up answer to the large gap between local politics and the immigrant or Muslim community in the Hague. ID is a member of the city counsel of the Hague since 2006. ID has one seat in the city council. Because of its bottom up approach ID is an accessible party. Many Muslims, and non-Muslims, but also organizations find their way to their ID councilor. This way their voice is heard in the city counsel and by the different aldermen.

ID is not only about politics. Awareness about the need to organize but also the need to support one another is one of our main issues. Investing in yourself but also investing in others.
